Slack Channel for SQRL Developers

Hello all,

I've set up a Slack channel for anyone who wants to use it for SQRL development stuff. I figured it would allow for real-time correspondence when actively working with each other. Would be interesting to see what @Steve thinks about tools like slack versus bulletin board stuff.

Anyway, anyone who wants an invite can just shoot me a private message with their email address in it. I'll send them an invite to the slack group. I figure we can get a channel in there for each of the projects so that real time dev and debug efforts, conference calls, and other such stuff can be managed more conveniently.

The name of the slack group is sqrl-devs.slack.com

Moderator, maybe pin this post so that others will find it?

Never tried slack, not sure what it is, I do know that Steve prefers his nntp for development, but I suppose some people prefer the forum, some prefer slack, and I suppose that is alright, even if it does fragment us a bit more :) Also sticky applied, for now :)

I can see the advantages of the nntp, and I think Slack provides some of the "easily accessible historical record" type functionality.

Mainly, it allows you to keep track of multiple conversations, with individuals or groups, along with any files uploaded, and all of that is full text searchable.

It also incorporates a bunch of integration capabilities, like setting up a channel to notify people when events occur inside GitHub.Seems like every developer team I talk to is using it or one of its competitors.

I hope it will help facilitate development, I am currently waiting on all the documents to be finished and released by Steve before I do any kind of work on programming SQRL related things, the few moments each month where my brain actually is functional for coding :)

That'll be great, Vela, since you and others will be able to let me know what I have forgotten to spell out clearly! :)
I'm getting close to finishing the "implementation" guide, which is the 2nd of 3 documents. I cannot work on it until after tomorrow's podcast, but I hope to have it wrapped up by the end of the week. (Much as I dislike predicting.)
The final document will be the "bits on the wire" document that describes for crypto algorithms and encodings.

I am looking forward to the documents, and I know you want them done soon, and also I know you have a very strong desire for measuring not only twice but many times before you cut :) it shows in the quality you usually produce. I also think you might have the sometimes curse of perfectionist in you like I do lol, though you seem to have that under more control than me :) In the end it will result in really good documents I am sure :)

What I am sort of thinking I want to make if I am able is a c implementation of client and server that will cross compile with gcc from linux into .exe form that can be used on windows and executable for linux, though I suspect any programmer will get that done before me, even if they have only an hour per month to put on that. I also want to make a php implementation for two forums I use, one that I once helped code, and the other being mybb :) Again though nobody in their right mind should or would wait for me to get something done, so I am hoping others get to those before me, or make my life easier by making code I can use (I know php and c implementations are on the way or done for at least some parts so that will be useful, but I kind of want to also try to do this from the specs when they are all in my hands, to see if I can do that, with only those docs, as that might help figure out if the docs are good enough for rusty programmers to implement from)

He said to PM him your email so he can have slack send out the invite link. Seems to be how slack works, requiring an email.

Yep, I'm sending out invites as they are requested. Once we have more members, we can allow others to send invites and free things up a bit.

Would anyone like to help administrate the slack channel? Seems like my being the only one with the ability to invite people might be hampering things.

Probably makes the most sense to have one of the people who use the slack channel into an admin, I can't currently take on more roles, especially while there is no dark theme on the web browser based interface :)
