SQRL account & login errors

I'm getting errors when I try to dis/associate & login using SQRL. Not sure if i should post this on the SQRL or the SQRL forms (or both), there are problems with both.
I try to login with my SQRL ID, and it doesn't recognize it. When I log in, the associated accounts page says there's one associated already. I try to remove it, and it stays with the account (no errors). If I'm logged in and try to associate my account, it says "You have authenticated with a different SQRL ID than the one associated with this account." This account is the only one I used. I'm getting the same error on both forums.grc.com & sqrl.grc.com. I used to be able to log in to one of them, now it doesn't work on either.

I replied to your message on the GRC forums first, so here is a copy of that. Let's keep the discussion to one place, here I guess.

It's hard to pinpoint what's wrong here. Is it possible that you have multiple SQRL IDs without realizing it? Because there is no automatic backup or synchronization of the SQRL identity, it can be particularly easy to end up with multiple. Additionally, because SQRL can be managed solely by the end user, there is the possibility that you used one of the powerful features that caused your identity to be lost or replaced.

The sever side plugin is identical on both of those forums. Ideally, if there was another place where you used SQRL, that was based on a different server, that would be helpful for point a finger at the problem. I have lost access to my SQRL identity on this site once through no fault of my own, so I think there is still a bug lurking behind the scenes. Steve is the only one who can address this, unfortunately, and he is busy making SpinRite 6.1 so we have been loath to redirect him to look into any SQRL issues.

I coincidentally just found that my own ID was also lost here and since my username is already in use and I cannot associate the old account as it thinks my ID is a new one (no password option), I just have to live with a new username. I am certain that this is the same ID that I registered here as it's the same one that I use at forums.grc.com and it still works fine there. I have this ID backed up in KeePass as it's easy to accidentally create multiple ID's with the same name. This ID management issue is one reason why SQRL will never be widely adopted; people would constantly lock themselves out of their accounts.

This "forgetting" IDs thing has been happening for quite some time in these forums and it's surely a bug somewhere. I honestly don't think Steve will ever revisit anything related to SQRL, so it is what it is. It does potentially give a bad impression of SQRL, however.

Just logged in with my older computer that was originally used to create my account here and on which the identity itself was created. Sure enough, it shows "RobAllen1" as my member name and says I have no posts prior to yesterday, so this confirms that the system "forgot" my SQRL ID or otherwise lost my account.

Though I was confident that this was the correct ID yesterday, it was imported onto another machine and I wanted to confirm it here just to reach a 99.999% confidence level ;) . There's likely a bug in the user database.

You may have fallen foul of the spam/bot

@Steve can you help @RobAllen1?

I have multiple SQRL IDs, but only used the one here (yes I tried the other just in case). It is just the one.
It sounds like SpinRite is moving along, so maybe we'll get insight into this at some point.

I agree with @PHolder there is some sort of bug in the integration to xenforo where an existing sqrl to username binding can get overwritten. I have also had this problem and the only way around it was to get @Steve to remove the sqrl association.

I have the same problem. I have only ever created one SQRL ID, but my SQRL ID no longer lets me login to sqrl.grc.com or forums.grc.com, and there does not appear to be any way for me to drop the invalid sqrl ID and replace it with the original one. I sent steve a message thru the sqrl.grc.com site but I have not heard back. I assume he is busy working on Spinrite and my problem is not really preventing me from logging in with my userid and password so I will just wait for however long it takes him to have some time to look at it.
