Steve,
If one uses Win 10 with Controlled Folder Access enabled, one must whitelist SQRL.exe in Windows Defender if you want SQRL to be able to see its identity file located in My Documents.
At first Defender would not let me download 66 using Edge. So I updated my Defender AV definitions and tried Firefox. It all worked and I am back. Defender even let SQRL find my SQRL id file and load it, so all appears well.
Because my identity file is in my My Documents folder and my Windows Defender Ransomware protection has controlled folder access turned on and the SQRL RC is a new version and was unknown to Windows Defender, I had to tell Defender to let the RC have access to controlled folders. Defender tells...
All is working properly. I did not mean to imply that the SQRL client required two factor. I just mean to say that when I log on to the forum website with SQRL, the forum website asks for the second factor. I set it up this way on purpose because I wanted to test two factor.
